Trekking team on the trail into Tsum Valley

Trek with Purpose

Your trek can be more than a journey through the mountains. With Kyimolung, we create small-group trekking experiences that bring together adventure, cultural exchange, community support, wellness, and meaningful connections with local people.

Along with the regular cost of your trek, a small additional contribution is included to support our community and humanitarian initiatives.

Every journey is different. Depending on your group’s interests and the needs of the communities we visit, we can create opportunities to take part in a range of activities alongside your trek.

Community Health & Wellness

Where appropriate, and with qualified practitioners and local partners, groups may have the opportunity to support or participate in small community health initiatives, including:

  • General health checkups
  • Dental screening and basic oral-health awareness
  • Acupuncture sessions
  • Sowa Rigpa — traditional Tibetan medicine — activities and education
  • Health and hygiene awareness

Activities are planned according to local needs, available professional support, and the interests of each group.

Discover Nepal’s Traditional Knowledge

Nepal’s mountains are home to generations of knowledge about plants, herbs, food, healing traditions, and nature. As we travel along the trails, we may introduce participants to local medicinal and useful plants and herbs, when appropriate, and share their traditional uses and cultural significance.

It is an opportunity to slow down, observe, ask questions, and learn from the knowledge carried through generations — an opportunity to learn, not simply to pass through.

Cultural Exchange

Spend time with local students, teachers, healthcare workers, farmers, and families. Share stories. Learn about rural life. Discover how farming works in Nepal. Talk about education, healthcare, culture, traditions, and everyday life.

These encounters create genuine opportunities for people from different backgrounds to learn from one another. Sometimes the most memorable part of a journey is not the destination — it is the person you meet along the way.

Available by Request

Yoga & Meditation in Nature

Imagine beginning your morning surrounded by mountains, forests, fresh air, and silence. This isn’t part of every standard itinerary — it’s an optional add-on we arrange with a qualified instructor when your group’s schedule, route and altitude allow for it, so just let us know when you enquire and we’ll build it into your days on the trail.

  • Yoga in Nature — gentle movement, stretching and breathing surrounded by the Himalayan landscape; a slow, grounding start to the day, adapted to altitude, terrain and every level of experience.
  • Meditation — guided or silent sessions to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and take in the stillness of the mountains, often held at a monastery, a viewpoint, or a quiet stop along the route.
  • Mindful Trekking — walking not only to reach the destination, but to notice the sounds, landscapes, people, cultures and small moments along the trail, for an afternoon or across the whole itinerary.

You Choose Your Experience

There Is No One-Size-Fits-All Trek with Purpose

Your group’s interests help shape the experience.

Community & Education

Visit schools, meet students and teachers, provide educational or sports materials where appropriate, and take part in cultural exchange.

Health & Wellness

Explore community health initiatives, dental screening, health awareness education, traditional medicine, yoga, meditation, and wellness activities.

Agriculture & Livelihoods

Visit farms, learn about rural livelihoods, discover traditional farming practices, and support appropriate agricultural initiatives such as seeds or greenhouse activities.

Nature & Culture

Learn about local plants and herbs, village life, traditions, landscapes, and the relationship between people and their natural environment.

Or combine them — your trek can bring together several experiences, depending on your group’s interests, time, and the communities we visit.

Your Trek. Your Interests. Your Purpose.

We believe responsible travel should create connections, understanding, and meaningful memories — not just photographs. With Kyimolung, your journey gives you the opportunity to:

  • Explore Nepal
  • Learn from local communities
  • Share your own experiences
  • Connect across cultures
  • Contribute in practical ways

Your trek is an adventure. But it can also be an opportunity to make your journey mean something more.

Everyone Can Take Part

You don’t need to be a doctor, nurse, healthcare professional, or specialist to join Trek with Purpose. Our community missions welcome people from different backgrounds and with different skills. Non-medical participants can also volunteer and support the mission in many practical ways.

You might help distribute educational materials, organize activities with students, support sports programs, assist with community events, help with logistics, spend time with local people, or simply share your time and enthusiasm. Medical services and clinical activities are carried out by appropriately qualified professionals, while other participants can contribute through volunteering, cultural exchange, education, community activities, and practical support.

Bring your time. Bring your skills. Bring your heart. Whether you are a healthcare professional, teacher, student, farmer, photographer, traveler, or simply someone who wants to help, there can be a meaningful way for you to take part. You don’t have to be an expert to make a contribution.

Come as a trekker. Leave as part of the community.
Explore. Connect. Learn. Contribute.
