Khenpo Karma Samdup

Khenpo Karma Samdup was born in one of the most remote villages of the Tsum Valley, the valley known in Buddhist tradition as Kyimolung, the “hidden valley of happiness”.

He became a close student of Yongdzin Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche (1933–2023), one of the great teachers of the Karma Kagyu tradition. Today he is general secretary of Thrangu Tashi Choling Monastery in Boudha, Kathmandu, which Thrangu Rinpoche founded in 1979, and he has taught higher Buddhist philosophy there since 2017. In December 2022 he was awarded a master’s degree in Higher Buddhist Studies.

He also serves as treasurer of Kyimolung Foundation Nepal.
